This world-renowned and beloved cellist returns to Phoenix after a five-year hiatus in a rare and special concert at the historic Orpheum Theatre. Yo-Yo Ma’s multi-faceted career is a testament to his continual search for new ways to communicate with audiences, and to his personal desire for artistic growth and renewal. His discography includes more than 100 albums, with 18 Grammy Award winners, and among his many other honors are the Avery Fisher Prize, the National Medal of Arts, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Kennedy Center Honors.
A regular visitor to international festivals both as soloist and chamber musician, pianist Kathryn Stott has performed around the world since 1978, when she was a prize winner in the Leeds International Piano Competition. She has been performing with Yo-Yo Ma since 1984. The pair recorded their acclaimed album Songs From the Arc of Life to celebrate the 30th-anniversary of their musical partnership.
